San Diego County Operations Center – Conference Center

The Conference Center & Cafeteria Building is a 15,127 SF single story building with rooftop terrace, located at 5520 Overland Avenue, San Diego CA 92123. The Conference Center is part of the new County Operations Center, a 1.2 million SF complex of government offices, laboratories, warehouse/storage, central plant, Medical Examiner building, and two parking structures. Developed by Lowe Enterprises, the complex will be owned and operated by the County of San Diego.

The Conference Center provides a central meeting space and food service facility for the County’s Operations Center, and includes a large assembly room, commercial kitchen, interior and exterior dining areas, a roof deck, green roof, solar hot water system and solar panel arrays mounted on trellis systems. Compared to the surrounding buildings, the Conference Center is small, but is meant to be a beacon of the County’s commitment to sustainability.

Building “B” is an existing building that is owned by the County of San Diego, and was renovated as part of the County’s new “County Operations Center” redevelopment project.  This 3-story building received a “gut” rehab, with all new MEP systems and architectural elements.  The building will house County and other government employees upon completion.

Broadway Pier Cruise Ship Terminal

The project consisted of the complete demolition and removal of an existing two story concrete structure including an open space with public restrooms and stair towers at the Pier Deck Level, and a platform or terrace with approximately 9,800 sf in area at the Second Floor Level. The new construction included a new Cruise Ship Terminal Building facilty, which was designed as a two story building with a total area approximately 52,228 sf, a 49,768 sf of interior and 2,460 sf of exterior open concourse/balcony. The terminal accomodates 2,600 passengers and contains ticketing stations, a Customs Station, a Homeland Security Station, a Passenger Lounge, Baggage Claim Area, and Baggage Handling Areas.

Vista Fire Station No. 6

The City of Vista Fire Station No. 6 is located at 651 E. Vista Way, between Escondido Ave and Franklin Lane. The site work provides preferred parking for low emitting and fuel efficient vehicles, reduces heat island effect, reduces stormwater runoff, and treats stormwater with bioswales and pervious concrete. High efficiency irrigation systems, drought tolerant plants, and low flow water fixtures helps save over 167,000 gallons of water annually. Low emitting and recycled content materials were specified and almost 80% of construction waste was diverted from the landfill. The 11,300 square foot station houses three drive-through apparatus bays, 9 bunk rooms, Training Room, Administrative offices, turnout lockers, laundry facilities, hose storage, and a workshop. Exterior site elements include an emergency generator, fueling facilities, and a hose-drying area.
