Student Life Pavilion at University of San Diego

The Student Life Pavilion is a comprehensive social center that includes full service dining area, greenhouse market,  a state-of-the-art University bookstore, and an integrated academic student service center.  This 16th Century Spanish Renaissance is modernized with high efficiency systems, a large solar panel system, low flow plumbing fixtures, and a green roof.  The project was kept clean, dry and smoke free.  Low-emitting, regional and recycled content materials were utilized, and green cleaning products are used throughout the facility.  Landscaping was designed to encourage pedestrians, with inviting spaces throughout for current and future students, faculty, staff and visitors to enjoy.

West Wireless Health Institute

The quest for sustainable buildings begins at the site selection stage, and although the West Wireless Health Institute (WWHI) is an interior renovation, its location provides several environmental benefits. WWHI has chosen 10350 North Torrey Pines Road in La Jolla, California as the San Diego base for its research to lower health care costs by accelerating the availability of wireless health solutions. The building is one of five that comprise the Torrey Pines Building complex. WWHI occupies the entire first, second and third floor of building 10350, and includes non-medical labs and offices that have been redesigned to aid the research activities of the facility.

Skills Center for Education & Technology

The new Educational Cultural Complex Skills Center for San Diego Continuing Education is a 67,010 square foot facility supporting instructional and career training programs in Automotive Technology, Automotive Mechanical and Electrical Repair, Automotive Body Repair, Automotive Upholstery, Graphic Printing Technology, Computer Graphic Arts, Cisco Lab, Business Information Technology and Welding.

The Skills Center is funded by the District’s $1.555 billion Propositions S and N construction bond program, which is providing for new teaching and learning facilities, major renovations, and campuswide infrastructure projects at City, Mesa, and Miramar Colleges, and six Continuing Education campuses throughout San Diego. As part of the Green Building Policy developed by the SDCCD Board of Trustees, all construction and major renovations included in the bond program are designed and built to obtain, at minimum, LEED Silver certification.

1955 Bacon Street Remodel

The Ocean Beach Auto Repair Shop is a 54 year old building in the heart of the Ocean Beach community in San Diego, CA. Purchased by ARCHITECTS hanna gabriel wells in 2007, the space was designed and renovated around an open work environment that makes use of the service bays of the existing auto-repair shop to create a communal work space. Located just blocks from the ocean, shops and restaurants, the new building design is highly integrated to take full advantage of the coastal climate, sun’s energy, and subsequently, has achieved LEED Gold Certification.
